A 32-year-old driver, Ibrahim Jalloh, has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 after being found guilty of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, the incident occurred in December 2024 at Furniture, Allen Town, Freetown. Jalloh was reported to have stolen US$1,400 (equivalent to Le 33,600) along with an additional Le 1,800, bringing the total amount stolen to Le 35,400. The money was allegedly taken from a Ford Escape Jeep (registration: ANY 386) belonging to Ishmail Kamel Zayat.

In delivering his judgment, Magistrate Jah stated that the conviction was based on the accused’s voluntary caution statement, which was consistent with the findings of the police investigation.

The prosecution, led by 9939 Lahai M., further informed the court that Jalloh was not a first-time offender, noting that he had recently been released from the Pademba Road Correctional Centre before committing the offence.

Despite pleading for leniency, Jalloh was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment to be served at the Pademba Road Correctional Centre.
